Job Profile
The incumbent shall plan, manage, organize and control the Acquisition, Lending, Periodicals and all other activities of the library. S/he shall supervise the workflow in different areas and plan book acquisition in the perspective of Institute’s mission statement. S/he shall prepare and manage a library budget. S/he shall disseminate information and provide support, including bibliographic to members of the academic community. S/he shall organize orientation programmes, ‘Know Your Library’ for students and visitors.
Qualification and Experience
The incumbent should have a Masters’ degree in Library and Information Science from reputed
Institutes and Universities with at least 55% marks and consistently good academic record. Bachelors
Degree in Computer Applications is preferred. M.Phil in Library Science /Information Science is desirable. Minimum five years of post qualification experience in a leading and reputed Academic Institution /Library/ Research Centre is required. Professional commitment, experience in computerization of library and working knowledge of Libsys (Library software) is essential.
The incumbent should posses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, accurate and methodical approach and openness to new forms of Information Technology. S/he should have the ability to be flexible and deal with problems as they arise and work independently as well as in a team.
Remuneration and Tenure
The position is in the Pay Band of Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs.6600, the gross emoluments shall
be around Rs.50,700/- or in the Pay Band of Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs.5400, the gross
emoluments shall be around Rs.42,000/-. In addition, Children’s education allowance, medical
expenses reimbursement etc., are admissible as per IRMA rules. Besides, s/he would also be entitled
to other benefits like PF, gratuity, leave and leave encashment, LTC and LTC encashment etc. as per
IRMA rules.
The position would be filled initially on contract basis of 5 years’ term with one year probation. The
contract is renewable after 5 years based on satisfactory performance.
